How can you use this cowhide?

The most famous and applied way is to use a cowhide as an attractive rug in your interior. They are often used in the living room, for example, in front of the sofa or in the sitting area to create a warm atmosphere. But we also see them increasingly in the bedroom next to the bed, so when you get out of bed you never have cold feet.

Can I use the cowhide outside?

Yes, to a certain extent. If the weather outside is nice and not humid then you can use this cowhide on the patio for that wonderful relaxing moment. Is it raining or humid? Then it's best to put your cowhide in the barn for a while. Also in the evening it is best to bring your cowhide inside. Leather is not very resistant to moisture. If the cowhide is dry under a roof, it is fine.

How can you maintain cowhide?

Cowhides require little to no maintenance. If dirt or moisture has gotten on the fur, you can use the tips below when cleaning.

Remove stains and dirt from cowhide:

• These can be gently whipped out with the hand or a mat whisk.
• If moisture (beverage, etc.) is spilled on it, pat the area dry immediately (do not rub!) with a clean dry cloth.
• Stubborn stains can be removed with a small amount of natural detergent with lukewarm/hot water.
• Dried-up dirt can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.

2. What sizes are available?

Our cowhides are available in different sizes: XS, S, M/L, XL and XXL. So there is always a size that fits your space and needs.

3. Where do your hides come from?

All of our cowhides come from South America, a region known worldwide for the highest quality hides. Here the hides are professionally tanned into supple and odor-free leather of top quality.

4. How do I maintain a cowhide?

A cowhide requires virtually no maintenance.

• Pat the skin regularly or vacuum with a smooth nozzle (not a rotary brush).
• Stains? Dab dry immediately with a clean cloth (don't rub!).
• Dried dirt can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.
• Treat stubborn stains with a small amount of mild soap and lukewarm water.

5. Can cowhides go on underfloor heating?

Yes, you can do that just fine. However, we do recommend lightly misting the skin with a plant spray from time to time during the winter months. This will prevent the leather from drying out due to the heat.

6. Do cowhides last long?

Sure. With normal use and proper maintenance, our cowhides can last for years without wearing out or losing their appearance.

7. What should I do if my cowhide gets wet?

Immediately pat the skin as dry as possible with a clean dry cloth. Then let the skin dry gently in a well-ventilated area, but avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.

8. Can cowhides curl at the edges?

We have never had reports of it but there is a minute chance, especially in dry air or if the cowhide dries out. You can limit this by occasionally misting the cowhide with a plant spray (just tap water). Does the hide already have some curl? Then moisten it slightly at the back (leather side) and top (hair side) and then place a flat heavy object on it. Then let the area dry (depending on temperature) until it feels dry. Also, always put something under it such as a piece of cardboard, wooden board or the like to keep your floor clean.

9. Are cowhides bred for their fur?

No, absolutely not. Our cowhides are a by-product of the meat industry. Having them tanned gives them a second life and nothing is lost.

10. Can I also use the skin as a wall decoration?

Yes, for sure! A cowhide on the wall is a real eye-catcher. Just make sure you hang the hide securely.

11. Can I return the cowhide if it doesn't fit after all?
