This cowhide does more than just look beautiful. It softens hard floors, subtly reflects light, and creates that unique, inviting atmosphere you’ll enjoy every day. It makes the difference between a room and a place where you truly feel at home. Wonderfully warm underfoot, soothing to the eyes, and pure elegance for your sense of home. With this cowhide, you instantly bring a warm and charming atmosphere into your home and office.

      This cowhide in a nutshell

      • Color: multi color
      • Size: ± 230x195cm M/L
      • Leather thickness: ± 2 - 4 mm (may vary by spot on skin)

This cowhide is slightly thinner than most of the cowhides we have in stock. However, the quality is just as good!

How can you use this cowhide?

The most well-known and common way to use cowhide is as an attractive rug in your home. They’re often used in the living room—for example, placed in front of the sofa or in the sitting area to create a warm atmosphere. But we’re also seeing them more and more often in the bedroom next to the bed, so you’ll never have cold feet when you step out of bed.

For further processing, create unique furniture and accessories

Did you know that you can also use this cowhide for further processing? That’s because it’s nice and supple. Are you creative and skilled at cutting, trimming, and sewing? Then you can make the most beautiful bags, pillows, accessories, and lots of other fun items yourself. Our cowhides are also regularly used to upholster furniture such as chairs, sofas, and stools.

Can I also use cowhide outdoors?

Yes, to a certain extent. If the weather outside is nice and not damp, you can use this cowhide on the patio for that wonderful moment of relaxation. Is it raining or humid? Then it’s best to put your cowhide away for a while. It’s also best to bring your cowhide inside in the evening. Leather doesn’t handle moisture well. If the cowhide is stored in a dry place under a canopy, that’s perfectly fine.

How do you care for cowhide?

Cowhides require little to no maintenance. If dirt or moisture gets on the hide, you can use the tips below when cleaning it.

Removing stains and dirt from cowhide:

      • These can be gently whipped out with the hand or a mat whisk.
      • If moisture (beverage, etc.) is spilled on it, pat the area dry immediately (do not rub!) with a clean dry cloth.
      • Stubborn stains can be removed with a small amount of natural detergent with lukewarm/hot water.
      • Dried-up dirt can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.

      Uniquely photographed and measured separately

With us, you’ll always receive the cowhide shown in the photo delivered right to your door. That’s because we photograph all hides individually so you get an exceptionally clear view. That way, you can find the perfect spot for it right away and enjoy it.

In addition, we measure all our cowhides individually so you’ll know exactly whether they’ll fit where you want them. The measurements are always approximate.

Go for a cowhide that no one else has

Cowhides are genuine natural products, which is why only one of each cowhide is available. This means you’re always bringing home a 100% unique piece that no one else has.

      Frequently Asked Questions About Cowhides

      1. Are all cowhides unique?

Yes, every cowhide is truly unique in color, shape, and pattern. No two hides are alike. With us, you always get exactly the hide you see in the photo—no surprises later on. That way, you can be sure you’re bringing home a 100% unique piece.

      2. What sizes are available?

Our cowhides are available in various sizes: XS, S, M/L, XL, and XXL. This means there’s always a size that fits your space and needs.

      3. Where do your hides come from?

All of our cowhides come from South America, a region known worldwide for the highest-quality hides. Here, the hides are professionally tanned into supple, odor-free, top-quality leather.

      4. How do I care for cowhide?

A cowhide requires virtually no maintenance.

      • Pat the skin regularly or vacuum with a smooth nozzle (not a rotary brush).
      • Stains? Dab dry immediately with a clean cloth (don't rub!).
      • Dried dirt can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.
      • Treat stubborn stains with a small amount of mild soap and lukewarm water.

You can also read detailed instructions on our cowhide care page.

      5. Can cowhides be placed on radiant floor heating?

Yes, you can do that just fine. However, we do recommend lightly misting the skin with a plant spray from time to time during the winter months. This will prevent the leather from drying out due to the heat.

      6. Do cowhides last a long time?

Absolutely. With normal use and proper care, our cowhides can last for years without wearing out or losing their luster.

      7. What should I do if my cowhide gets wet?

Immediately pat the skin as dry as possible with a clean dry cloth. Then let the skin dry gently in a well-ventilated area, but avoid direct sunlight and heat sources.

      8. Can cowhides curl at the edges?

We’ve never received any reports of this, but there is a very small chance it could happen, especially in dry air or if the cowhide dries out. You can minimize this by occasionally misting the cowhide with a plant sprayer (plain tap water). Is the hide already curling a bit? If so, lightly moisten the back (leather side) and the top (hair side), then place a flat, heavy object on top of it. Let the area dry (depending on the temperature) until it feels dry to the touch. Always place something underneath it, such as a piece of cardboard, a wooden board, or something similar, to keep your floor clean.

      9. Are cows raised for their cowhides?

No, absolutely not. Our cowhides are a byproduct of the meat industry. By tanning them, they are given a second life and nothing goes to waste.

      10. Can I also use the skin as a wall decoration?

Yes, definitely! A cowhide on the wall is a real eye-catcher. Just make sure you hang the hide securely.

      11. Can I return the cowhide if it doesn’t fit after all?

Yes, we offer a 30-day return window. Within that period, you can return the cowhide if it doesn’t meet your expectations (provided it is undamaged and unused). You are responsible for return shipping costs. You can find more information about our return policy on our customer service page.
