Why choose a cream-colored sheepskin?
Cream goes with absolutely every color and style, just like white, but its warm undertones add just a touch more coziness. It pairs beautifully with wood tones, linen, and earthy colors, and fits right in with a rustic, modern, or bohemian interior. And a sheepskin is more than just beautiful: wool is a natural insulator (warm in winter, cool in summer), and it’s wonderfully soft to lie on—even for your dog or cat.
Natural cream color—never paper-white
Important to know: all my cream-colored sheepskins are naturally colored. A natural sheepskin is never as white as a sheet of paper—that’s only possible with bleached sheepskins, which I deliberately do not sell. I choose only natural shades. As a result, the cream color ranges from a soft ivory to a warm, creamy white, sometimes with very subtle variations. It’s precisely this natural variation that makes each fleece authentic and unique.
A natural, warm shade
No two cream-colored sheepskins are alike. Some lean more toward ivory, while others have a warmer, creamy white hue. The wool length also varies, from short to long. My cream-colored sheepskins come from breeds such as the Texelaar and the Icelandic sheep, and are sourced from Europe, where the finest sheepskins are found.
Soft, supple, and odor-free
The wool of a cream-colored sheepskin is surprisingly supple—that’s because the tanneries brush it thoroughly to ensure softness and a subtle sheen. And the smell? I’m quite particular about that. Many sheepskins that undergo a shorter, cheaper tanning process carry a strong goat or barn odor that quickly fills a room. By refining the tanning process in collaboration with my tanneries, that odor has disappeared. The pelt has a neutral scent, so it’s ready to be added to your home right away.
Looking for the right size?
Size really matters when it comes to a sheepskin: it has to fit both the space and your plans for it. A quick guide, from small to large:
- S: up to 100 cm. The accent size: draped over a stool or dining chair, in a cozy corner, or as a soft spot for your dog or cat.
- M: 100 to 115 cm. Versatile and the most popular choice. Looks great draped over an armchair or as a warm rug next to your bed. Not sure which size to choose? You can almost always go with size M.
- L: 116 to 120 cm. Plush and generous; looks great draped over a larger sofa or as a decorative accent on the floor.
- (X)XL: 121 cm and up. The fullest skins: make a statement draped over a large sofa or used as a full-size rug.
Measure your space and compare it to the size listed for each sheepskin. Don’t forget: a sheepskin has an organic shape—it’s not a rectangle—so be sure to focus on the length.

Tanned in accordance with the Oeko-Tex standard
The tanning process is sustainable, in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, and free of harmful substances. Although the official certification label isn’t attached, the standard is met. And just like all my sheepskins, the cream-colored ones are also a byproduct of the meat industry: by having them tanned, nothing goes to waste. That realization is what originally inspired me to start Leatheroverstock.

Almost always. I photograph most skins individually and assign them a unique number, so you’ll receive exactly that skin. Some I sell “off the stack”; in that case, you’ll receive a sheepskin similar to the one in the photo, in the same color and size. The listing will specify which option applies.
How do I care for a cream-colored sheepskin?
