How big is an L-size sheepskin?
An L-size skin measures 116 to 120 cm in length. I measure each skin along its length—the long side, not diagonally—and including the wool. This places the L size just above the M (100–115 cm) and below the largest (X)XL skins. Because it’s a natural product, each rug varies slightly in shape and fullness; length is therefore the best measure.
How to use an L-size sheepskin
Thanks to their generous size, you have plenty of options:
- On a larger sofa: drape it partly over the seat and partly over the backrest for a warm, luxurious look that’s also incredibly comfortable.
- Place one over an armchair or lounge chair: it fills out the seat nicely and instantly makes it much more comfortable.
- Add some coziness to your floor: in front of the couch, next to your bed, or in a reading nook—so you never have to step on a cold floor.
- As a spacious resting spot for your dog or cat: nice and warm and soft, and large enough for a slightly larger pet.

Wonderfully soft and odorless
You’ll want to keep stroking a sheepskin of this size, and that starts with soft wool: the tanneries brush each sheepskin to ensure supple wool with a subtle sheen. The scent is just as important. Cheaper skins from a short tanning process often still smell like a goat or a farm—a scent that quickly spreads throughout your home. Together with my tanneries, I’ve adjusted the tanning process to neutralize that scent; your new pelt will have a neutral smell and can find a spot in your home right away.

They don’t carry the official certification mark, but they do meet that standard. And just like all my sheepskins, they’re a byproduct of the meat industry—by having them tanned, nothing goes to waste. That’s also the reason I started Leatheroverstock in the first place.

Almost always. I photograph most skins individually and assign them a unique number, so you’ll receive exactly that skin. Some I sell “off the stack”; in that case, you’ll receive a sheepskin similar to the one in the photo, in the same color and size. The listing will specify which option applies.
How do I care for an L-size sheepskin?
