A set of cowhide coasters may be small, but it instantly adds the finishing touch to your interior and saves you a lot of cleaning. Below, I’ll explain why they’re so handy and special.
Keep your table free of rings
You’ve probably been there: you’ve just cleaned your table, and a moment later it’s covered in water rings from cups and glasses again. Cowhide coasters are the perfect solution. They protect your table and furniture from rings and stains, and can withstand heat, cold, and moisture. This way, you can set down a hot cup or a cold glass without worry, and your table will stay looking great.
Sturdy thanks to a luxurious leather backing
Cowhide usually has a leather thickness of 2 to 4 mm. That’s nice and supple, but for a coaster, you want sturdiness. That’s why I add a sturdy, luxurious leather backing. This ensures you don’t end up with flimsy coasters, but truly solid ones that can take a beating, with a beautiful, luxurious finish.
Round or square, 10x10 cm
My cowhide coasters come in round and square shapes, the latter with rounded corners. Measuring 10x10 cm, they fit under virtually any glass or cup. Whether you choose the soft, rounded look or the slightly more sleek square design, both protect your table and add a playful, charming touch.
Sustainably made—nothing goes to waste
Coasters aren’t just charming—they’re also sustainably made. I cut them out of cowhides with minor imperfections, such as a repair, a cut, or other damage, which makes them unsuitable for use as cowhide rugs. By using the beautiful, intact parts and working around the imperfections, almost nothing goes to waste. I inspect each coaster by hand to ensure you receive only the finest pieces.
And what about the pieces with imperfections? You can also buy those as affordable “B-grade” items. They’re popular for small DIY projects, such as making accessories or earrings, and are often used for educational purposes—for example, in schools where children can touch and experience the leather.
Pair them with your other hides and furs
Coasters look especially beautiful when paired with your other natural hides and furs. For example, choose a set in the same color as your large cowhide—such as a tricolor or a traditional black-and-white cowhide—or pair them with a playful mini cowhide, cowhide pillows, or a cozy sheepskin. This way, you can bring different textures together to create a warm, inviting look.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are cowhide coasters used for?
To protect your table and furniture from rings and stains caused by cups and glasses. They can withstand heat, cold, and moisture, while adding a luxurious, charming touch to your interior.
What shapes and sizes are they available in?
Available in round and square shapes (with rounded corners), both measuring 10x10 cm. This makes them a perfect fit for virtually any glass or cup.
Why are your coasters so sturdy?
Cowhide on its own is quite supple (2 to 4 mm thick). That’s why I add a sturdy, luxurious leather backing, so you get coasters that aren’t flimsy but truly solid, with a beautiful finish.
What’s the difference between A-grade and B-grade coasters?
Grade A coasters are the finest pieces, which I inspect by hand. Grade B coasters have a minor imperfection and are more affordable. These are often purchased for DIY projects or for educational use.
Are the cowhide coasters dyed?
No. The cowhide is in its own natural color. The colors and patterns come from the animal itself, so no two coasters are exactly the same.
How do I care for cowhide coasters?
Very low maintenance. They can withstand heat, cold, and moisture; simply wipe them clean with a slightly damp cloth. You can find detailed tips on caring for and cleaning cowhide.
