Approximately how big is an XXL sheepskin?
Our large sheepskins are XXL if they are +/- 130cm or larger in length. Here we also measure the wool. We measure them lengthwise (not diagonally!). The lengths of a sheepskin can go up to about 150cm for the largest sheepskins.
How can the XXL sheepskins be used?
The great thing about a large sheepskin is that you can use it in many different ways. One of the most commonly used ways is as luxurious ambience creators for your interior. Have you just got a new interior but are still missing something? Then a natural decoration like a sheepskin can add a nice homely and warm atmosphere.
Large sheepskins are perfect for on the sofa, in your chair and lounge set
You can use the large sheepskins for your sofa, among other things. Great if you want to sit extra soft and comfortable. Because these fleeces are extra large, you can hang them partly over the banister and partly on the seat and because they are so big they will not easily slide off the banister. This allows you to sit comfortably for longer periods of time and enjoy a nice restful moment with a nice cup of tea, a nice book or even entire series of bingwatch. You can also hang the sheepskin over the banister of your sofa for more atmosphere.
Do you have a lazy chair that you can snuggle up in? Then you can make it even more comfortable by placing a large soft sheepskin in it. This will have you dozing off within minutes.
Do you like to sit outside? Then you can also use the fleeces for your lounge set, so you can sit outside comfortably during the BBQ or if you just want to enjoy the sunshine. Keep in mind that sheepskins cannot be left outside during rain and humidity. They prefer a dry environment.
The large sheepskins are perfect as a warm rug
Besides the XXL sheepskins are perfect for use on your couch and for in your chair, you can also use them as a nice warm rug. Put a large sheepskin in front of your couch or chair, for example, so your feet won't get cold and the slippers can stay in the closet.
In addition, you can also lay them down as a decorative rug in front of the fireplace. This is because wool is naturally flame-resistant and offers higher fire safety compared to systhetic materials. Do not place it too close to the fireplace, of course. If you like to place the sheepskin in front of your fireplace, it is advisable to turn it from time to time and moisten it with water mist from the plant sprayer.
Use a large sheepskin as a rug for your pet
Did you know that sheepskin can also be used as a rug/bed for your pet? Dogs and cats also prefer to lie on a soft sheepskin. This is because the sheepskin takes on the body temperature. Also, a sheepskin is nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Would you like to use a large sheepskin for your pet? Then you can use it for the bench and basket. But you can also put the fleece directly on the floor. If you like to put it directly on the floor then it is advisable to regularly remove the sheepskin from its place, pat it out and air it outside.
What kinds of XXL sheepskins are there?
Did you know that there are more than 900 different breeds of sheep? Each breed of sheep has its own unique characteristics. For example, there are sheep with the familiar long wool, the nice warm compact wool but also with characteristic playful curls. In addition to the characteristic wool, each breed of sheep is also unique in size. Not every breed of sheep becomes an XXL sheep simply because that particular breed does not have the genetic predisposition to do so.
Sheep furs that are mostly available in a larger size are Icelandic furs, as well as the classic Texel with white and brown fur. Sometimes beautiful brown and white fleeces are also available in XXL size.

Our XXL sheepskins are ecologically tanned for a silky soft wool and pleasant scent
Our sheepskins are all ecologically tanned which means no heavy metals or substances that harm the environment. Having the fleeces tanned in an environmentally friendly way makes them super supple and wonderfully soft. This high quality is achieved by brushing the large sheepskins several times which makes them super soft and gives them a fine sheen. Once you have one of these big pelts you won't want to do anything but pet it all day long.
Another feature of our XXL sheepskins is that they have a pleasant smell. In fact, if a sheepskin has gone through limited tanning process then it may still smell like buck/farm. This is often a characteristic of cheaper sheepskins. If you put such a fleece in your house, your house will smell like sheep in no time, something you don't want in my opinion. After unpacking the sheepskin you immediately want to put it in a place and enjoy it, right?
Together with our tanners, we looked at how to make the sheepskins smell nice. After some adjustments in the tanning process, the sheepskins now smell neutral or have a slightly soapy scent (like you just did a wash). We are quite proud of this. So you can immediately give them a nice spot in your interior.
How do I care for my large sheepskin?
Of course you are proud of your luxurious, authentic XXL sheepskin. But how do you keep it beautiful for the longest time? The nice thing about sheepskins is that they require little to no maintenance. Depending on how you use the sheepskin, at most you will have to pat it out once in a while or make the wool fluffy again.
