Actually, every sheepskin is unique—no two are alike. But these ones stand out even more. They’re the rare specimens with unusual colors, unexpected patterns, or special color combinations that fall just outside the standard categories like white, brown, or gray. I’ve gathered them here separately so that these true mavericks get the attention they deserve.

A one-of-a-kind sheepskin makes a statement: a real eye-catcher and conversation starter that instantly adds a personal and special touch to your home. Since these are almost always individual, rare pieces, the selection is limited and constantly changing—if you see something beautiful, that’s the one and only piece.
Plus, they have all the familiar qualities of a genuine sheepskin: wool is a natural insulator (warm in winter, cool in summer), it’s wonderfully soft to lie on—even for your dog or cat—and, of course, each one is completely unique.
How do you choose the right one?
With “one-of-a-kind,” it’s not about a predetermined color, but about finding that one skin that speaks to you. Take your time scrolling through the collection and let yourself be guided by what you like. Because I photograph and measure each skin individually, you know exactly what you’re getting: the color, the pattern, and the size. Naturally colored, never dyed
No matter how unique the color or pattern may be: all my sheepskins are naturally colored, never dyed. All shades and patterns come entirely from the sheep themselves. It’s precisely this natural variation that makes these one-of-a-kind sheepskins so special—no color here is artificial; everything is genuine. My sheepskins come from breeds such as the Texelaar and the Icelandic sheep, and are sourced from Europe, where the most beautiful sheepskins originate.
Soft to the touch, and without that barn smell
Just like all my sheepskins, these one-of-a-kind pieces are given an extra brushing at the tannery, which softens the wool and gives it a beautiful sheen. And the scent is just as important to me. Sheepskins that undergo a quick, inexpensive tanning process often retain a strong goat or farmyard odor that can fill your entire room. By adjusting that tanning process in collaboration with my tanneries, that odor has disappeared, and every sheepskin now has a neutral scent.
What size do you need?
When it comes to sheepskins, size matters: it has to fit both the space and your intended use. I measure each skin individually so you know exactly what you’re getting. A guide, listed in ascending order of size:
- S: up to 100 cm. Great as an accent: draped over a stool or dining chair, in a corner, or as a soft spot for your dog or cat.
- M: 100 to 115 cm. The versatile favorite. Looks great draped over an armchair, or as a warm rug next to your bed. Not sure? You can almost always go with size M.
- L: 116 to 120 cm. Plush and generous; looks great draped over a larger sofa or as a decorative accent on the floor.
- (X)XL: 121 cm and up. The fullest skins: make a statement draped over a large sofa or used as a full-size rug.
Measure your space and compare it to the dimensions listed for each pelt. A pelt has an organic, natural shape—not a rectangle—so focus primarily on the length.

Ethically tanned, nothing wasted
The tanning process is sustainable, in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, and free of harmful substances. The certification mark isn’t officially displayed, but the standard is met. And every sheepskin is and remains a byproduct of the meat industry: by having it tanned, nothing goes to waste. That very principle was the foundation of Leatheroverstock.

Almost always. I photograph most skins individually and assign them a unique number; you’ll receive exactly that skin. On rare occasions, I sell “from the batch”; in that case, you’ll receive a skin similar to the one in the photo, in the same color and size. The product description will specify which option applies.
How do I care for a one-of-a-kind sheepskin?
