Why choose a brown-cream sheepskin?
The soft transition between brown and cream makes each sheepskin subtle and unique—warm and natural, yet never overpowering. It pairs beautifully with wood tones, linen, and earthy colors, and fits perfectly into a rustic, modern, or bohemian interior. And a sheepskin is more than just beautiful: wool is a natural insulator (warm in winter, cool in summer), and it’s wonderfully soft to lie on—even for your dog or cat.
A natural transition from brown to cream
No two brown-cream sheepskins are alike. In some, the brown gradually blends into a creamy shade, while in others you’ll see more distinct tones. The wool length also varies, from short to long. My brown-cream sheepskins come from breeds such as the Texelaar and the Icelandic sheep, and are sourced from Europe, where the finest sheepskins originate.
Supple, soft, and odor-neutral
Pick up a brown-cream sheepskin and you’ll immediately feel how supple the wool is—the result of extra brushing at the tannery, which ensures softness and a subtle sheen. I find the scent just as important. Cheaper skins that undergo a limited tanning process often still smell like a goat or a farm—a scent that quickly makes itself known in your home. That’s why I’ve worked with my tanneries to adjust the tanning process so that smell is no longer present. The skin simply has a neutral scent.
Which size should you choose?
Size matters more than you might think when it comes to sheepskins: it has to fit both the space and your purpose. Here’s a quick guide, in ascending order of size:
- S: smaller than 100 cm. The perfect accent: draped over a stool or dining chair, in a cozy corner, or as a snug spot for your dog or cat.
- M: 100 to 115 cm. A favorite and versatile choice. Looks great draped over an armchair or as a warm rug next to your bed. Not sure? You can almost always go with size M.
- L: 116 to 120 cm. Generous and full; looks great on a larger sofa or as a cozy accent on the floor.
- (X)XL: 121 cm and up. The largest, fullest skins: make a statement draped over a large sofa or used as a plush rug.
Measure your space and compare it to the dimensions listed for each skin. Keep in mind: a sheepskin has an organic shape—it’s not a rectangle—so use the length as a guideline.

A clean, sustainable tanning process
My sheepskins are sustainably tanned according to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, a tanning process free of harmful substances. Although they don’t officially carry the certification mark, they do meet the standard. And like all my sheepskins, this one is also a byproduct of the meat industry; by having it tanned, nothing goes to waste—and that’s exactly why I started Leatheroverstock in the first place.

No. I only sell sheepskins in their natural colors. The shades come from the sheep themselves.
Will I receive the exact skin shown in the photo?
Almost always. I photograph most skins individually and assign them a unique number, so you’ll receive exactly that skin. Some I sell “off the stack”; in that case, you’ll receive a sheepskin similar to the one in the photo, in the same color and size. The listing will specify which option applies.
How do I care for a brown-cream sheepskin?
